Longtime specialists for traffic solutions set up the business segment Intelligent Transportation Systems.

Nuremberg/Zurich: The international active engineering service provider is Industrial Services AG having its registered head office in Nuremberg and national companies in Austria, in the Czech Republic, Slovenia and the US, founded the is Industrial Services AG Switzerland with its registered office in Zurich in November 2005.
The new company under the direction of the members of the Administrative Board and Business Directors Beat Hiller and Walter Steiner provides the full process chain of engineering from planning, development, construction, documentation to the delivery and commissioning of machines, equipment and components.

At the same time Zurich hosts the group-wide Competence Center “Intelligent Transportation Systems”, which is specialized in the planning and realization of mobility solutions for intermodal traffic.

For Peter Dinstühler, Chairman of the is group and President of the Administrative Board of the is Industrial Services AG Switzerland, the professional influencing and control of traffic flows constitutes one of the important challenges for an efficient, mobile society. “We perceive an enormous potential for growth here, where we can be active as engineers. All forecasts predict ever growing and simultaneously ever stronger networked traffic systems with the well-known problems - an ideal field of activity for us”.

Dinstühler says that Switzerland enjoys an excellent international reputation in terms of traffic routes construction and in particular for bridges and tunnels. He says that the intelligent systems have so far too often been neglected, which however, allow for an efficient use of these traffic constructions. “Here too, the Swiss are positioned on top of the world!”

The foundation of a company in Switzerland thus constitutes a valuable investment to participate in the markets of the future, says Dinstühler.
“With Beat Hiller and Walter Steiner we were able to win two strongly experienced engineers for the management of this new unit. Both have since long been responsible for traffic telematics and are very well known to us from joint projects”.

Traffic telematics is strongly characterized by multiple disciplines. This ensures the integration of different technologies such as electrical engineering, communication engineering, software development and web design. “As a group, which provides an extensive range of performances, ‚is’ can excel in this field as the group is able to provide complete solutions from one source to the customers without being obliged to use external services” Beat Hiller assesses the opportunities, which are provided by a multifaceted group environment such as with the is group.
According to the company, the order situation and number of demands is very positive.
At present, the ‘is AG Switzerland’ employs five colleagues - from the second quarter on, there will be eight and it is intended to increase this number to 12 to the end of the year 2006.

The parent company of the ‘is group’, which has 14 companies at present, is the ‘is Industrial Services AG’ in Nuremberg, which was founded in 1990.
The is companies have set up competence centers in the technical fields of automation, building technology, electrical engineering, installation, mechanical engineering, personnel service, product development, project management, software engineering, software solutions, turnkey projects as well as the construction of switching stations.

At present, the group employs almost 410 technicians, engineers, computer scientists and physicists of the most different disciplines and already needs to employ 135 new colleagues!
