Since the end of 2005, Walter Steiner is member of the Administrative Board and Managing Director of the ‘is Industrial Services AG Switzerland’ with its registered office in Zurich.

After an apprenticeship to become electrician and machine draftsman, Steiner, who was born 1955, attended the Engineering School in Zurich from 1979 to 1984, from which he graduated as Diplom-Elektro-Ingenieur HTL for the special fields electronics and communications engineering. From 1985 to 1987 he completed an additional post-graduate-course of studies (PGC) at the Engineering School Horw from which he graduated as computer scientist. From 1986 to 1996 Walter Steiner worked as software-engineer and later as director of the division traffic control systems for the industry. Alongside he attended the KS Kaderschule AG in Regensdorf between 1993 and 1995, from which graduated as PGC-industrial engineer. Since 1996 Steiner was employed with the Siemens AG Switzerland; lastly as project leader for major projects in traffic-control systems until he joined the AWK Group in 2000.

Walter Steiner is member of the Association of Swiss Road Experts as well as director of the work group Traffic Control Systems of the Swiss Automation Pool.
